Summary

Ted Cruz opposes the Obamacare health care legislation and supports its full repeal. He made the repeal of the legislation the first point in his 12 step economic plan, has referred to it as unconstitutional numerous times, and stated that it should be the first item addressed by Congress in 2012.

ObamaCare is unconstitutional. President Obama arrogantly jammed that down the throats of the American people. He disregarded the overwhelming opposition of the American people and he put in place a system that took over 1/6 of the American economy and it puts a government bureaucrat between us and our doctors. It is wrong and needs to be repealed.

12 Point Plan

In September of 2011 SG Cruz issued a 12 point plan for addressing the economy. Point one in that plan was the repeal of Obamacare.

1) Repeal ObamaCare. This Administration, over the vocal opposition of a large majority of the American people, jammed through a 2,000-page bill that puts us on the path to government control of 1/6 of the economy. If ObamaCare stays in place, it will wreak havoc in the healthcare industry, reduce care levels, increase scarcity, and put government bureaucrats between patients and their doctors. And, the massive cost and uncertainty it has imposed on small business is crippling job creation. My first bill in the Senate will be to repeal every word of ObamaCare.

Ted Cruz defended the landmark tort reform legislation implemented in Texas in 2003. He protected the constitutionality of that effort, which has led to greater access to health care and expanded economic opportunity.

• Argued Robinson v. Crown Cork & Seal Co. before the Texas Supreme Court, the first case addressing the constitutionality of HB 4, the landmark Texas tort reform legislation;
• As the head of the Office of Policy Planning at the Federal Trade Commission, lead efforts for the FTC to intervene in defense of consumers in several class action lawsuits, with the FTC successfully opposing insignificant coupon settlements and excessive attorneys fees;
