Alan Grayson - Insulting Spokesman Gibbs

Summary

In response to questions about criticism from extreme left wing supporters of President Obama, White House Spokesman Robert Gibbs commented that they would never be happy with the President's actions. Congressman Grayson ( a Democrat) called for Spokesman Gibbs to be fired and made a number of insulting remarks.

 

Comments by Gibbs

In an interview with thehill.com, White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said was commenting on members of the left leaning political blogosphere and left wing talk radio that were unhappy with progress of President Obama in ending the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and establishing a single-payer system. Press Secretary Gibbs said the following:

I hear these people saying he's like George Bush. Those people ought to be drug tested, they will be satisfied when we have Canadian health care and we've eliminated the Pentagon. That's not reality. They wouldn't be satisfied if Dennis Kucinich was President.

When asked about those comments at a later press conference, Press Secretary Gibbs said the following about the comments:

it was born out of frustration, but I don't think it was uhhh ... Again, I think it was born out of frustration. 

 

Reaction by Congressman Grayson

When appearing on MSNBC following Spokesman Gibb's comments, Congressman Gibbs was asked if press secretary Gibbs should resign and stated the following:

I don't think he should resign, I think he should be fired. He's done a miserable job. People I know refer to him as 'Bozo the Spokesman.'  

...

he's so far in over his head he'd have to reach up to touch his shoes.
