Health Care
In March of 2010 the Democratic Party passed a health care bill that allows the federal government to take control of 1/6 of our economy. This expansion of government was met with vocal and vigorous opposition by the people of our district and throughout the country. We urged our representatives to slow down, to allow our concerns to be heard, to overhaul the bill. Our voice was ignored by our representatives. Our input was deemed radical, unintelligent, politically motivated, and the bill was forced upon us as if we were just too stupid to understand what was good for us.
This kind of out of touch, arrogant, patriarchal representation has led to the disconnect between our district and Washington DC. Our voices not only are not heard, they are not valued and are dismissed as unimportant. When our representative caved to party pressure despite our district’s overwhelming objection he ceased to be our representative. He became a career politician representing the voice of Nancy Pelosi and President Obama. Your voice should count; it should be valued and not looked down upon or dismissed.
Our representative should have the courage to stand up to power; to risk his job to represent your will and your desires without concern for himself. As your Congressional Representative I will always listen and value your voice and speak on your behalf; not Nancy Pelosi, President Obama, or any political or special interest.
I will:
- Work to defund Obama Health Care developing an honest, realistic, pay as we go plan to fund health care reform
- Work to modify our health care system based on rational solutions taking input from our district, professionals, and leaders in the healthcare industry
- Encourage innovative private sector solutions which promote increased competition, interstate insurance availability, and free market answers to health care services and cost control
- Promote and protect coverage and services for seniors on Medicare
- Seek affordable coverage of working individuals unable to purchase insurance.
- Support transferable insurance policies and coverage of individuals with pre-existing conditions
- Work to reform unfunded mandates by the federal government which drive the cost of services up for all of us
- Sponsor legislation which promotes tort reform and a more sensible approach to legal liability
