Number of Votes
The figure below shows the number of votes in the US Senate and US House for every year from 1990 to 2008. When control of congress changed from Democratic to Republican after the 1994 elections, there was a noticable uptick in the number of votes in both the house and the senate. When control shifted back to the Democrats after the 2006 elections, there was an even greater increase in the number of votes.
