SUPPORT AND DEFEND ISRAEL
We must stand firm in our allegiance and our relationship with Israel. Our friend, Israel, sits in the middle of a region of instability … a region where we currently get 65% of our oil. Israel is our best ally and arguably our only true ally in a region where long-established governments can topple overnight. We must protect that relationship with Israel.
Why should a Texas Senator have such a strong stance on protecting our alliance with this tiny country? As a part of this great state and this wonderful country, we must understand the importance of aligning with a country that holds so much power in the middle east.
According to Joel Rosenberg, a communications advisor for both Isreal and the US and well-known author:
On December 5th, Defense Secretary Leon Panetta again applied public pressure on Israel not to take decisive actions against Iran to prevent a Second Holocaust. “The United States has pointedly ramped up its public warnings over the last few weeks about the risks of military action against Iran, accompanied by private words of caution to Israel, which sees Tehran’s nuclear push as a direct threat,” reported Reuters. “Panetta said it [an Israeli preemptive strike] risked ‘an escalation’ that could ‘consume the Middle East in confrontation and conflict that we would regret.’ It could also hobble the fragile U.S. and European economies and might do little to actually stop Iran from getting an atomic weapon.” Read the full article…Texas is home to 15 military bases for the Army, Navy and Air Force, including Fort Hood, which is the one of the largest American Military bases in the world. Texas is home to three of the largest in the United States and would indeed be heavily impacted should any more major wars break out. Source…
Most importantly though, as a Christian nation, it is our responsibility to stand with Israel in accordance with God’s directive given in Psalm 122:6, we are to pray for the peace of Jerusalem. God makes it very clear we need to support and defend Israel at all costs.
