Cynthia Dill on Civil Liberty

On May 30, 2012 State Representaitve Dill participated in an online chat coordinated by the Portland Press Herald. She was asked about her support of the use of drones for targetted assassination and states that she supports the measure. She further rebutes a comment that President Obama has continued Bush policies related to civil liberty and drones.

The NY Times reported yesterday that President Obama personally selects the 'Secret Kill List' for drone assassinations. What is your take on Obama's expansion of the Bush/Cheney covert 'War on Terror'?Cynthia Dill:
I do not agree that Obama has continued in the same vein as Bush and Cheney. I think our departure from Iraq and the planned withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan is evidence of this. I am relieved Osama Bin Laden is no longer a threat to our national security. I didn't read the NYT piece you mention, but it makes sense to me that the President of the United States should be accountable for military decisions, and not some private security corporation like Haliburton.
