In June of 2010, the Courier Journal asked the candidates a series of questions about a variety of topics. On the subject of earmarks and taxes, Attorney General Conway said the following:

What guidelines or restrictions would you place on your earmark requests if you were elected?

Jack Conway: Kentuckians deserve their fair share of the federal taxes that they pay, but all taxpayers suffer when government wastes money on special interest giveaways. As Senator, I will oppose earmarks for special interests but I will fight for federal resources to create jobs in Kentucky.
