Alexi Giannoulias believes in man-man global warming. He supports a cap-and-trade system where carbon credits are allocated and then traded on a market. He has also proposed a roughly 4% tax on incoming barrels of oil to encourage Americans to transition to alternative fuels and supports the oil drilling moratorium. 

 

Belief in man-mad global warming

In an undated AP article cited on Giannoulias's campaign website, each candidate is asked about their belief in global warming. Giannoulias responds that he does indeed believe in it.

 

Support for cap-and-trade

In campaign website press release, Giannoulias states that he supports a "clean energy marketplace."  This is the generalized term for a market on carbon credits which is known as cap-and-trade.

 

Support for oil moratorium

In an undated AP article on WBBM, Alexi Giannoulias is cited as stating his support for the moratorium on new offshore drilling platforms.

 

 

Sierra Club Endorsement

Giannoulias's campaign has released a press statement that states that the Sierra club has endorsed him for the 2010 Senate race. The Sierra Club is a strong proponent of man-made global warming and cap-and-trade systems.
