Teachers and First Responders Back to Work Act of 2011
On October 20, 2011 the Senate attempted to pass a portion of the American Jobs Act separately. This portion would provide $30 billion for teacher pay in states and $5 billion for first responders. The legislation failed to pass in a 50-50 vote with 3 Democrats siding with all Republican against the legislation. Joseph Lieberman voted against this legislation.
