Joe Sestak on Social Security

Last Updated : Jul 01, 2010

Congressman Sestak has stated that the Social Security trust fund will be out by 2037 and that Medicare will be out by 2017. Congressman Sestak opposes privatization of social security, and opposes the reduction of benefits to make the program solvent. He has stated that we need to look at how the program is funded but did not clarify this statement.

Congressman Sestak supports the use of a "lock box" to ensure that future social security benefits are not spent on other items as past social security revenue has been.
