Fox News Appearance
In March of 2009, Congressman McCotter appeared on Fox News and discussed the pending auto bailout. He advocates in favor of legislation to create a bridge loan to GM to prevent it from entering into bankruptcy. He states that going into bankruptcy would end GM. He also states that the Republican party needs to understand that the people whose jobs are on the line are working people and matter.
Bloomberg Appearance
In April of 2009, Congressman McCotter appeared on Bloomberg and discussed the bailout at length. He did not specifically endorse a bailout of GM, but he does discuss the government involvement in GM.
Fox News Appearance
In July of 2011, Congressman McCotter appeared on Fox News and discussed a number of issues. He stated that he supported the GM bailout because it protected American jobs (comments start at 2:20).
Conversation with the Candidate
In August of 2011, Congressman McCotter appeared on WMUR's Conversation with the Candidate.In this discussion, Congressman McCotter states that his vote in favor of AFRA was a mistake. AFRA was the Auto Financing Restructure Act. This legislation passed the House, but not the Senate. However, it was used as a guideline for the auto bailout.
Question: You mentioned your Michigan roots. Throughout your career, you have worked pretty well with labor unions. You've also backed the auto bailout. What do you say to conservatives in this state who don't exactly agree with those positions?

Voting Record
Auto Industry Financing and Restructuring Act
As the last vote in the 2008 session, the House passed the Auto Industry Financing and Restructuring Act. Although the legislation was not brought up for a vote in the Senate, it provided the blueprint for how Presidents Bush and Obama would later deal with GM. Thaddeus McCotter voted in favor of the legislation to assist GM.
