Congressman Gingrich has spoken out on numerous occasions concerning his support for Israel and the need for the US to stand with Israel against it's enemies. He has stated that no other country would show the restraint that Israel has shown in light of the attacks that have been placed against them.
The Emerging Third World War
On July 31, 2006 Congressman Gingrich spoke at the Young America's Foundation. He addresses the missiles being sent into Israel, and actions in Lebanon and Syria.
O'Reilly Show Appearance
Congressman Gingrich appeared on the O'Reilly show in 2009 and spoke about Israel's responses to missile attacks from Hamas. He stated that no one would ask for any other country to show a proportional response of missiles were launched into their territory.
2009 AIPAC
In 2009, Congressman Gingrich spoke at the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) Convention about the threats facing the nation of Israel and in comparison of other times in history.
In 1909, virtually nobody in England would have believed the British Empire was about to disintegrate and the world would never recover from the shattering cost of WW I.
In 1939, decent people were trying desperately to avoid the reality of Adolph Hitler. Winston Churchill said WW II was the unnecessary war; it could have been avoided if any of the European democracies had the courage to confront Hitler earlier.
In 1979, the Soviet Empire was on the march, everyone wanted detente. Along came one person, Ronald Reagan. A reporter asked him his vision of the end of the Cold War. He said: “we win, they lose.”
Reagan understood something very profound. In concert with Pope John Paul II and Margaret Thatcher, he brought to bear pressures which in eleven years caused the Soviet Union to disappear.
We now are facing decisions which in the future will have our children recognizing whether we today were in 1939 or in 1979.
If we have the courage to confront the truth, we will be surprised by the speed with which our enemies collapse.
Israel and Nuclear Weapons
In February of 2011, Congressman Gingrich responded to questions concerning Israel's nuclear program at a press conference.
Fox News Iowa Debate
On December 15, 2011 Congressman Gingrich participated in the Fox News Iowa debate. He was asked about the UN and spoke about its inability to deal with the crisis in Israel.
MODERATOR: Thank you — we have been liberal with our friendly ding.
Mr. Speaker, you have been openly critical of the United Nations. For example on the topic of Palestinian efforts for statehood at the U.S. you said, quote, “we don’t need to fund a corrupt institution to beat up on our allies.”
In a Gingrich administration would the United States leave the UN?
GINGRICH: No, but we would dramatically reduce our reliance on it. And we’d confront certain realities. People talk about a peace process. 11 missiles were fired in Israel last month, last month. Over 200 missiles fired at Israel this year. You think if we had 11 missiles fired in the United States we — well, this president anyway would say gee, maybe we could communicate and you would like us more.
But I don’t think there is — you know, I think most of us, most Americans would say you know if you are firing missiles at me, that may not be a good gesture. OK? The United Nations camps that we have helped fund have been training grounds for terrorism.
As Congressman Bachmann pointed out the last time we debated, she was over there with textbooks that are clearly teaching terrorism that are indirectly funded by the United States through the UN.
We have no obligation to lie and every obligation to tell the truth about how bad the UN bureaucracy is and why it ought to be fixed or we ought to radically cut what we’re paying.
