Reagan Library Speech

In September of 2011, Governor Christie spoke at the Reagan Library on policy issues. After the speech, he took questions from the reporters in the crowd. When asked about social security, Governer Christie used his previous experience with firefighters benefits in New Jersey as a metric for how the situation should be handled. Namely, he stated that the people should be told the truth, the Medicare, Medicare, and to a lesser extent social security were eating away at the finances of the US and needed to be reformed. He also stated that he supported means testing for Medicare and Social Security.

 

AEI Interview

In February of 2016, Governor Christie was asked a question in a press event about raising the retirement age. He stated that the age should be raised and that those who approached the issue with courage would be rewarded by voters.
