Buddy Roemer - Unions

Last Updated: Sep 14, 2011

Summary

Governor Roemer opposes the involvement of the National Labor Relations board into the economy through decisions such as the one concerning Boeing and South Carolina. He states that he supports both union jobs and nonunion jobs equally, but it is the burden of the union to convince people to join unions. He supports a national right to work law.

South Carolina Debate

In May of 2011, Governor Roemer held a debate style rally similar to the South Carolina Debate. In that rally, he discusses the National Labor Relations Board and their ruling against allowing Boeing to open a facility in South Carolina. He states that this is a government overeach of power to make such declarations.

In a second question, Governor Roemer discuses his support for all jobs, union and non-union. He states that his job as President would not be to increase the number of union or non-union jobs, but the total number of jobs.

New Hampshire Debate

In a debate style rally held at the same time as the New Hampshire debates, Governor Roemer answered numerous questions. In one question, he discusses his support for all jobs and his view that there should be a national right to work law.
