BALANCING THE BUDGET
As Governor, I successfully balanced our State’s budget every year despite inheriting a deficit. My plan for a balanced budget calls for an annual reductions in federal spending equal to 1% of GDP over five years. We must reign in the size of government and reduce federal spending from 25% to 18% of GDP.
Excessive debt kills jobs, crushes confidence, steals from our children and shrinks a nation. We owe more today than any nation on earth has ever owed. Our government simply spends too much of your hard-earned money.
Our national debt is not just a fiscal problem, but a moral problem as well. It is unacceptable to leave to our children and grandchildren a country that is weaker, less prosperous and more indebted than the one we inherited. We need a President who will lead the fight to balance the budget and finally tackle our national debt.
