Harry Reid Doubles Down on Silly

Aug 03, 2012 - NEWS
Before last week, we were cataloging six controversies for Senator Reid. Despite the large number of times that Senator Reid sticks his proverbial foot in his mouth, we try to avoid logging controversy because it downplays the significance of the other items. Still, this latest bout of baffoonery had to be logged.
In case you missed it, Senator Reid was interviewed by the Huffington Post last week and stated that Governor Romney's father would be ashamed of him. The logic for this (if there is any) is that when the senior Romney ran for President, he released 12 years of tax returns and Governor Romney has released only two. Shamful.
In addition to these statements, Senator Reid stated that a "source" told him that Governor Romney did not pay taxes for a ten year period while he was working at Bain Capital.
Instead of walking back the statements, Senator Reid chose to double-down on the silliness. He took to the House floor and claimed again that Governor Romney should released more records because the burden of proof was now on him to prove his innocence.
The entire floor speech along with the previous interview statements are in the controversy page.
