Title : Expressing support for Bangladesh's return to democracy.

 

SUMMARY AS OF:
3/25/2010--Passed House amended.    (There is 1 other summary) Supports the people of Bangladesh and encourages the strengthening of democracy in Bangladesh. Urges the government of Bangladesh to: (1) work with all political leaders to continue reconciliation; and (2) protect the rights of religious and ethnic minorities. Urges: (1) the President to coordinate with Bangladesh on matters of security, economic progress, and human rights in South Asia; and (2) the Anti-Corruption Commission in Bangladesh to continue efforts to eradicate corruption.
Encourages the Secretary of State and the Administrator of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to support the building of a strong civil society and the eradication of poverty in Bangladesh.
